About Us
The name Amingu comes from the word “aminguh”, meaning “almond” in the dialect language spoken in Bari, Italy. Almonds are an essential ingredient in the olive oil cake and give it a unique tasting experience.
Founders Alex and Emily established Amingu Cakes in 2021 as a way to bring their Italian heritage and love for olive oil to their community in Orange County, CA.
Alex’s family comes from Bari, Italy located in the region of Puglia. This region is known for having some of the best, premium olive oil in the world. So naturally, Alex’s love and fascination for olive oil started from a very young age and has become an essential ingredient in his everyday cooking.
Seeing the rise in popularity for this flavor, one day Emily sparked the idea of creating their own version of the beloved olive oil cake. They quickly started working on a recipe, testing different variations and narrowing down their focus to creating a one of a kind olive oil cake that encompasses the essence of their Italian heritage and passion for sharing it with others.
